We're going Kosher!

This last weekend was a little crazy, but a lot of fun! I really want to post about Patti's party, but even though I brought my camera, I was too busy having a great time to take pictures! I know other people did, come on Patti, let's see them! (Unless I look stupid--which I know I do--leave those out.)

So until then, here's a funny story for you!

David and I were talking this morning while we were getting ready for work and Maddie was sitting there listening. David was saying something about bacon, and then he said, "Except we can't have bacon anymore because of the swine flu. So I guess we'll have to go kosher!" I replied with a nice, "heh. heh."

A little while later when we were getting ready to go, Maddie asked Dave if she was going with him. He told her no, he was going to work and she was going to the daycare. She was all, "No! You said we were going somewhere else earlier!" It took him a minute to figure it out, but she wanted to go kosher. REALLY bad! She's asked me a few times today already, I may have told her daddy was lying to finally make her stop. Even though she said "Nuh-huh. Daddy was NOT lying!"

Tee hee! Thought it was cute!

TidBits

I really don't have much to blog about, just a lot of little tidbits.

First off, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I think I often feel overwhelmed, and this is another one of those weeks. Just on top of the regular things, like my job and church meetings, I had a staff meeting at work last night, made a huge four layer cake, a birthday party earlier today, making cookies for a wedding tonight, a Primary activity in the morning and so on and so forth.

BUT, one thing that is making me feel a little more calm is I finally found a "perfume" I really REALLY like. It's from Bath & Body Works, and every time I take a whiff of it, I just feel....aaahhhhhhh. It smells so nice!

Maddie had an accident the other day. She was outside playing (where she also got SUNBURNED! Could that kid be any more fair skinned?!), and couldn't get the door open in time. And BETHANY wouldn't come help her! Yes, I'm totally blaming Bethany for that accident.

Sam ate his own poop the other day. I know I love him, but I just can't seem to get close to him anymore. He's disgusted me. The story is, he LOVES to play in the trash can, I try to keep him away from it, but he's faster than you'd think and that particular day he'd found one of his dirty diapers, opened it, and...well, you know the rest. Oh the nastiness of it all!

Bethany is so happy to be back at school, except for yesterday when SOMEBODY (I think it must've been Dave...) was supposed to pick her up after school and FORGOT her! What a horrible parent that is! Okay, okay, it was me. On Tuesdays' and Thursdays' I work in the office at work, and go pick Bethany up when it's that time. But yesterday I was waist deep in organizing a closet and totally lost track of time. I was so caught up in my good work, chatting with another co-worker, and all of a sudden--it hit. BETHANY! She had to wait in the school's office for half an hour. I felt horrible! But to make myself feel a little better, there's only ONE month left of school and it's the first time it's happened, thats a pretty good record. Right? Right...

And thats about all the tidbits I have for you! How was your week?

Pictures, pictures

Okay, I got my stupid slow computer to finally take the pictures. Because it took forever to get them on the computer I'm going to post a couple from Easter too. So there, and there's nothing you can do to stop me! Mwaa hahaha ha! Okay then, here goes:

This first one, Sam had got ahold of Bethany's soup and was going to town. We was completely happy, and not at all bothered with soup in his eye. :)

These next pictures are the Easter egg hunt at Jim & Kay's. Here's Leanne's little boy Ethan--too funny!

And Leanne's little girl Chelsea!

Sam hunting for some eggs.

Look Ma! I found one!

Okay, these next pictures are from my lamp project. The first picture is what the shade looked like before. See, it's just tan and has kind of a faux leather look--blah!

And the little lamp turned into THIS: I LOVE IT!

And the corner lamp got a bold damask pattern and some feathers! Whoo!

The other two lamps will get this toile material (the colors really do match, the pictures don't show it very well), and maybe some beads or something!
Here's a closer shot of the material on the little lamp. (I'm going to use the extra material from this and the damask and make a little tableclothe for the side table, and maybe some extra pillows or something, I'm debating.)
So what do you think? Pretty fun huh?

Spring Breaking Up is Hard to Do

I'm still here. I think I'm okay, I think I survived. What did I survive?

SPRING BREAK!

It was a different Spring Break this year, because the weather was TERRIBLE. Rain the first half of the week, SNOW the second. So we were pretty much stuck inside the whole week. Dumb. It got a little kooky, I have to say! But I also got a crafting itch that I totally scratched! If that didn't make sense, I did a craft project! I took pictures, but I haven't downloaded them yet (you haven't heard that before have you?!), I promise I will hopefully maybe even today!

But to let you in on my project, I decided I wanted to re-do my lamp shades. They're just a tan color and very boring! So I went and bought some super cute fabric and recovered them, I've got two of the four done already, and I have to say they are freakin adorable! I'm very excited about finishing the other's up too! Promise I'll get the pictures up soon!

So, how was your Spring Break?

Easter Goodness

I hope you all had a great Easter like I did! Sacrament meeting was beautiful and wonderful and I cried a lot, it was good though!
I made us all match Sunday clothes so we could take some pictures of us, the kids weren't being too cooperative though, so this is the best we got! (Besides the fact that there really isn't a "pretty" place to take pictures at our house.)

I haven't downloaded the pictures from the Easter egg hunt yet, but we had a TON of fun at Jim & Kay's eating great food, throwing plastic eggs on the roof and kicking them when the came down, joking around, eating dessert and just enjoying the company! We love them so much!
So how was your Easter?

(Oh! And yesterday was my Mom's birthday too, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!)

Blogging for Dummies

Okay, I'm being a lazy blogger today, but boy oh boy! You get to see us LIVE! Whoooey! I know you're excited because its been so long since you've seen my crazy eyes, and my ridiculously loud voice! Wheeee!

This first video is of Sam walking around and then you can hear his adorable little conversation with me. I love this kid! AND, lucky lucky, you get to see him wave bye bye! So cute! (Oh, before you start, turn the sound to LOW, my voice is shockingly loud--it pierces to the inner eardrum and bursts it. Ask my dad, he knows.)

This next video is maybe a tad embarrassing, but since when have I let that stop me? I decided I would do a video blog, and show you some of the stuff we've been doing--IN THE FLESH! Or atleast, through the computer, on the video, and not reading it. You get the picture.

Hope you enjoyed it because it took some seriously doodawing to get these stupid videos to work (and help from my awesome friend!), oh and sorry for blaring you ears right out of your head. Its a gift, I know.

My Deep Ponderings on Conference

I'm sure there will be a hundred and one posts about Conference in the next day or two, but here's one more! Yay!
Of course I had my favorite talks and one's I really needed to hear but I don't want to talk about that right now. I want to talk about ME, just kidding!
I was pondering yesterday morning about why we have two days of Conference, and four hours of spiritual feasting those two days. It seems like a lot to me (granted, I'm not complaining, I was just curious as why they chose to do it that way), why did they decide that every six months we would gather together on Saturday morning and afternoon, and then again the next day? Well, I don't know all the specific reasons, but the main thing I came up with is: because we need it! (wow, I'm so deep aren't I?) Can I just say, EVERY Conference I come away with this feeling of hope and re-commitment. DUH! In a world that pulls us every which way, where its hard to always see exactly what we should do, where it can get a little depressing, we NEED to hear those messages of hope and love and telling us exactly what we need to do. Its amazing! I love that I can listen to one message and feel like I KNOW the Church is true, I KNOW what they're saying is TRUE! It all makes sense! I may struggle and feel guilty that I'm not better, but I know its true and I can be better! What a great weekend its been...I love this church!

April Fool's!

My favorite April Fool's Joke EVER:

When Bethany was just a little baby, April Fool's came around. She was only a few months old, so still had pretty unpredictable bowel movements. Are you getting a little scared that I went right into poop? Oh yes, this story definitely has to do with poop! All the best stories have poop in them! Or do they? Well, this one does...

So, we went to the store and bought a jar of Nutella. Have you ever seen it? Its a hazelnut/chocolate (the consistency of say peanut butter-ish) spread, delicious really, but we weren't using it to put on toast--oh no we weren't! I made David do it, because I just can't keep my face straight in these sort of situations, no poker face whatsoever.

We were at David's parents' house for...well, because we lived there thats why. He went in the other room to "get a diaper", and while he was in there he spread some of the Nutella on the clean diaper. Can you see where this is going?

He put Bethany on the floor where his parents weren't paying attention, and switched out the diapers. All of a sudden he started making a fuss, "OH MAN! This diaper is horrible! She totally had a blow-out!!" and then "*SNIFF* WOW, this diaper totally smells like chocolate!! Weird!" and finally "Hmmmm, I wonder if it...tastes...like...choco..." LICK! He stuck the diaper to his mouth, and licked up some of the Nutella! hehehehehehe!

You should have heard the commotion!! David's mom screaming, his dad I think just put his hand over his face and laughed (I think he knew something was up, yes?), I stayed off to the side laughing the whole time--it was HILARIOUS! (Ma, Pa, do you remember it?) hahaha

And to this day we have never played another April Fool's joke, because how can you top that?! Can you top it?

Putting Things Off--Again!

We had a very interesting weekend, lots to do and unexpected changes. But it all ended up working out just fine, so thats a good thing! Friday was the most unexpected/time consuming day. With getting the new tv, Dave HAD to have the HD set up, so it consisted of a new dish and a new box, and a LOT of drilling. Like, 8 hours of the cable guy here, drilling. :( I'm sure anytime he drives by our house he curses out the window, I wouldn't blame him really. So we missed the Ward party but what can ya do? Nothing I tell ya, nothing. Saturday was the YW Broadcast, every year we go to the Bishop's and BBQ before, so we did that and man can I tell you, the Bishop can cook some good chicken! It was so yummy! That was a good night and afterwards I went to my dear friend Shanna's and FINALLY met her new little baby Evelyn--darling girl! We had a lot of fun talking and watching Bride Wars until 1:00 in the morning! Sheesh, I'm getting too old to stay up that late! haha And yesterday was my nephew's birthday and I totally didn't call him, I feel horrible! He's the big THREE (David will be the big THREE-O in about three months! EEK!), and the cutest boy ever besides Sam, you know how it is. I miss my sister and her adorable kids so much it hurts! :( Hopefully we'll be able to visit (OR THEM HERE! HINT HINT...) soon. We also had a very fun Sunday visiting with the Bishop's family after church, I just love that Katie, she's so great! We had a great time playing games (that I totally lost at, you'd think I'd be used to losing by now, seriously!), and eating fantastic food! So you can see, busy/fun/awesome weekend we had! Which isn't much different than most our weekends, but hey, thats life, atleast our life! And today, I'm just going to have to buckle down and get things cleaned and organized. It has to happen sometime, and it should be now. So in an effort to delay that, I was dreaming about if I had a house big enough to actually have a play room, how would I decorate it? Here's some idea's I had:

When/If I ever have my own house, it will be VERY hard to decide how to decorate. I like too many different things! So what's your decorating style? And how was your weekend?

Pictures, pictures

Here's the pictures we took the other night, I wish my kids would've been more cooperative but thats just the way it goes sometimes! Even with the fussing, I still love the pictures we did get, photography is so much fun! Hope you enjoy!

All about my Birthday!

Oooh ooh ooh! It was my birthday yesterday guys! Yes, I am officially in my late twenties! hahaha I didn't really do anything yesterday since I still had to work and I still had mutual and I still had a house to clean, but last weekend we went to Olive Garden--yummo! We did however for mutual have a family portrait night and I figured not very many people would come (and boy was I right!) so I had Dave come over and take a new family picture with me, so that was fun! (I LOVE photography, taking pictures is so fun for me, although Maddie made it not so fun too.) :) I will try and post those pictures later today, but for now I'm going to go clean up and get ready to watch LOST tonight! On our brand new flat screen tv!!! Wowee! Oh, and for my birthday David got me a new ipod, good guy that one! And almost as good, a bag of peanut butter M&M's! MMmmmmm! And I have to mention how awesome the people around me are! I got so many birthday wishes, it was so nice! You guys rock! :) Thanks! :)

Pictures Say a Thousand Words

My sister in law Tamsyn tagged me with this and my friend Noreen did too (sorry about that Noreen, I didn't even notice my name till just the other day!), so here goes!

What ya do is open your picture's folder, go to the sixth folder, get the sixth picture and post it.

Okay here it is:

This is Bethany right after we first moved to Utah. She was 18 months old and it was a beautiful summer! Isn't she so cute?! I'll let the picture speak for itself though! :)

Random

Here's what's going on with me, what's going on with you?:

My tooth hurts. The one way in the back. I'm scared. I don't want to go to the dentist! Waaaaah!

Otherwise, guess what?! We got a huge HUGE huge flat screen tv! Can you believe it?! We've been talking about it for years, and we finally talked ourselves into it. It's finally starting to get set up and looking decent, come over and watch a movie with us okay? Bethany thinks its fantastic, and I've noticed my kids are much more interactive with the tv now. How? Well, now that the tv is the same size as they are, they copy whatever is going on on the screen. It's pretty funny!

I might be donating blood this afternoon as well. We'll see if they need extra volunteers, otherwise I'll just be serving juice and crackers or helping in the nursery. Whoo! I'm just hoping some of my girls show up to help also! ;)

It's my birthday next week, and since David's parents are here visiting, we're going out to dinner tomorrow. I chose Olive Garden, it's been a long time since we've eatten there so I'm pretty excited!

Okay, thats all I can think of and I'm smelling something bad, so I guess I'll go change Sam's diaper. Eew.

And What a Week It Was!

Alright, I finally decided I needed to get these pictures up and done with! So here are the random pictures of our week last week (well, the parts without the barfing atleast).

First up is Bethany. She got to go to a birthday part last Saturday and received in a goodie bag some silly puddy. While playing Mario Kart, she decided to make herself a mustache like Mario and played her whole race like that. Very funny to watch, especially when it started falling off! :)

Number two on the list, the freak snow fall we had last Monday. This picture is just from the very beginning, it came down fast and furious and within half an hour the ground was covered! By today though, it was beautiful outside, even rather warm I'd say! No more snow already!

These next two are from Church last Sunday, the girls brought home these special papers from Primary, where they filled in the blanks about me. I had a pretty rough day Monday (what with the barfing and no sleep, did I mention that?) and when I read their answers it really helped cheer me up!

(if you can't quite make it out, it says "I appreciate the way you do laundry. I love it when you cook macaroni. Thank you for teaching me the Gospel." Awwwwww!)

(I think you can read these just fine.) :)

And the best part of last week (ya know, besides the barfing)?! Sam started walking all by himself! And even since that first night, he's gotten better and better, quite amazing little man he is!

GO SAM!

This really was quite a crazy week, with Mutual on Tuesday, a staff meeting and Relief Society dinner on Wednesday, a camp meeting on Thursday and we went to the Temple last night, on top of the normal stuff. Sheesh, I'm pooped. :)

Things You Can Look Forward To!

Hey guys, stay tuned for a post really soon! A post that includes pictures of:

-Bethany with a Mario mustache made from orange silly putty!

-The freak snow fall we had on Monday!

-The cute papers my girls did in Primary on Sunday--totally made my day!

And last but certainly the best:

-Sam taking his very first steps by himself!!!

Oh yes, the boy is walking--sort of--by himself! He can take around five steps from the couch to me or whatever, its very exciting stuff guys!

And hopefully someday soon, I'll get the drive to actually upload the pictures onto the stupid laptop! You can see them when that happens! Peace out!

Ew Sicko

Just stopping in real quick to complain, then I have to get back to the laundry.
Oh yes, I have the laundry to do because Maddie has been so soooo sick! She had a bad night Thursday and then was fine all day Friday and Saturday and Sunday. So we thought she was over it. But no, last night was the longest night ever. We were basically awake all night. I feel bad, I'm not sure what to do for her or why she's throwing up so much. She doesn't have a fever, during the day she acts totally normal. Whats going on?!
Well, wish me luck that this is the end of it, and sorry to Shanna, I won't be coming to paint with you. I feel so bad! (although I'm sure you're relieved now right?) :)
So here's for starting out the week on a good note eh?

Pack Rats Unite!

We're spring cleaning this week. Well, we wanted to spring clean and sort of started, but then it snowed. And you just can't spring clean if its not spring-like outside! Right? Right!

One thing I did get done though? I took ALL of our DVD's and alphabetized them and threw all the cases out and put them in cd books! So now ALL the space the DVD cases took up (five garbage bags full--I know, crazy!) are now contained into two cd books--FANTASTIC!! Love it!!! The only thing that I don't love about it, is if we get a new movie, I have to move all of them down one--BAD!! So, learn from my mistake if you ever want to do this:
a. Don't alphabetize them--WHAT?! That's not an option!
or
b. leave a space at the end of each page for adding new movies.
or
c. I'm sure you could come up with something even more clever, but I can't think of anything else!

Other things we're halfway done with for the spring cleaning? Going through EVERYONE's clothes! I'm done, David's done, Maddie's done. Now we just have to go through Bethany's clothes and Sam's. Phew, feels good not to have to cram clothes into dresser's anymore! Besides the fact that I got rid of clothes I've had since the tenth grade--TENTH grade people! I don't know why I still had those clothes, but getting rid of them felt so good! (I really am not a huge pack rat, I just kept getting this nagging feeling that if I got rid of all those clothes then I'd have NOTHING TO WEAR! And that would be horrible! haha But then I decided I would rather wear things I LIKED all the time, instead of having full drawers of clothes I never wear. There you go, stuff you never cared to know about me!) :)

So lots of other things on my list, but atleast we're getting started! How about you, what are you wanting to purge from your house?

Concentrate Dear, concentrate...

I just wanted to share this little story with you all right now before I forget, because I just know I'll go to bed and sleep terribly trying to remember that I should blog this and then by the time morning comes--poof! It's gone.
Anyway, we just got done with family prayer a little bit ago and it was my turn. Because we have little children who don't necessarily sit still or be quiet, we usually have to hurry things up or at least we can't be too lengthy. But tonight I was really feeling my prayer and really thinking about what I was asking for and what I was thankful for. By the end of the prayer I was feeling pretty good with myself and expecting David to say something about what a nice prayer it was. Or even just a Wow that was long! But when I said Amen and looked up at him, David jumped right up with a twisted painful expression on his face. I asked him what was wrong and he said "Oh man! I thought I was going to poop my pants!" And hurried out of the room.
Well. So glad my spiritual moment was wasted on you. And that my friends is why women are more in tune than men. :)

Saying Goodbye

Well, the funeral is over. David's mom gave the eulogy and did an amazing job, it was beautiful and heartfelt and funny. Everything a eulogy should be! :) David got to dedicate the grave and really did a great job, he was really nervous but he didn't need to be because he had everything under control! Here's a few pictures I snapped at the funeral and also at the cemetary.

Of course it's always hard to say goodbye to someone you love, but the best part is you don't have to say goodbye for forever! I find so much comfort in that, we're so lucky to have the gospel! :)

Grandpa Larry

Just stopping in here real quick, I don't really have much in the way of updating, except that David's parents and one of his sisters are here and his other sisters' will be here tomorrow morning. Funeral plans are coming along, almost everything is done, just mostly little things left to do. I wanted to add this little collage of David's grandpa. Although I only knew him for a short eight years, I really did enjoy him and I hope he knew that I really appreciated how kind he was to me.
