Bethany Lee

Today is my girl's 6th birthday! I just can't believe how fast the time has gone. I know everyone says that, but truly I can't believe that the time is gone already. It makes me feel a little weepy thinking how fast the last six years went, soon she'll be twelve and then twenty four...
Being the first of my kids, Bethany gets the best and worst of both worlds. She will always be special because she is the first, and got to be the only one with me for three whole years. But I'm also harder on her because she's the oldest, I make all the mistakes on her. (Maybe not all, but most...) But despite all my faults, she is wonderful! It was really fun going back through and looking at these pictures, made me all sentimental. I thought about sharing my birth story with you, but instead I'd like to share some things about Bethany.
*She's very maternal. She LOVES babies and loves to help take care of people. She doesn't like it when people hurt other's and she's always there to make you feel better.
*She wants to be a good friend. It hurts her when someone says they don't want to play with her, and she's ecstatic when she gets to play with friends.
*She's a drama queen! This kid can go from hysterical laughter to hysterics in the blink of an eye. Atleast we know she's passionate!
*She loves being a big sister and is a BIG help to mom. She can help change diapers, she loves to help cook dinner, she loves to help! (most of the time...)
*She's a smarty pants. She loves to learn and read and write, she does so well in school and loves being there.
*Bethany got glasses when she was three years old. She started crossing one eye and we thought that was a little weird. Come to find out, she has terrible vision! So glasses she got, and she never takes them off, even when she was three we didn't have to fight her to wear them. She's never lost a pair and she's never broken any.
*She's never broken any bones or had stitches. (Knock on wood!) Despite the vision problems, she's always been pretty timid and hasn't been reckless enough to get majorly hurt!
*Bethany ADORES both sets of grandparents AND great-grandparents. When they come to visit she HAS to sleep with them. Luckily they don't mind so much! ;)

Well, here's some pictures through the years, not in any special order. Hope you enjoy them atleast a little bit as much as I did!

Parties/Potties

I was all set and pumped to get on here and tell you that:

MADDIE IS OFFICIALLY POTTY TRAINED!!!!

But then we went to Leanne's last night and she wet her pants. Darn it all! She's actually been doing fantastic, has been doing great at the daycare, no problems. Just last night. And she has yet to flush the toilet after herself. But I'm not complaining! No, I'm so happy! I haven't had to change one of her poopy diapers in forever. Fantastic!
Funny side story:
After she had her accident last night, we got her cleaned up and changed and she said she would go to the bathroom now. So she went in there and I stood and watched her and nothing. I asked her if she had to go and she said "Yes! Please go OUT!" So I did, but left the door a little ajar and watched her. She didn't see me. But then she looks all around her at the walls and the ceiling, and says "WOW! What a beautiful bathroom!" hahaha Isn't she a hoot!?!

Sam is doing a lot better! He had his hopefully last dr.'s appointment today. They said he sounded SO much better and that we'd done good. He still has a pretty awful sounding cough but the doctor said that would last for awhile. Cute thing, he's doing a new sound now. He says "OWwww!" all the time, so cute!

Getting ready for Bethany's party is in full swing. And by full swing, I took a nap this afternoon and will probably be up late trying to catch up. But we did go to the store today and got all the party favors and extra stuff, she was so excited about it! I'm so glad tomorrow's Dave's day off so we can really get stuff done! :) Bethany told me a little bit ago that she was SO happy that its her birthday tomorrow! It was way sweet!

Well, I'm sure I could think of a few more things, but now I have to go to the bathroom. ;) haha

I Find Darth Vader Strangely Endearing Now

Well, my poor boy is very sick. I feel horrible about it! All this last week Sam hasn't been feeling very good, but we kept hoping he'd start getting better.
It started out with a fever that lasted about four days, and then turned into a little rash (don't worry, the rash was just his body fighting off the virus), all the while accompanied by a cough and super goopy eyes. David took him in to the doctor yesterday because he just wasn't getting better.
Get this, the poor boy has ear infections in BOTH ears. He has a sinus infection, hence the goopy eyes. And he has some respitory junk going on, as in she heard a slight wheeze. And if we don't take care of it, it can turn into RSV. SUCKY!
So the treatment? We have to give him eye drops twice a day, with ear infection medicine twice a day. And for the respitory stuff?! Oh, its the best part. We have this little machine called a NEBULIZER--Dave kept calling it a defibulator--and Sam has to put this mouthpiece, well yes, in his mouth and breath in this vapor for fifteen to twenty minutes or so. EVERY FOUR HOURS. Yup, every four hours, AND that includes the middle of the night. Lucky me got up last night and took care of that, it was fabulous. He has to go back Monday morning, so they can see if its gotten any better. Oh yeah, and there was something in there too about saline and snot sucking before he eats and sleeps, every time. I hope I don't sound like I'm complaining, I'm happy to take care of him and I hope he starts feeling better real soon, it breaks my heart every time he coughs! Its just such a kicker of a treatment! Sheesh! Here he is with his defibulizer--I mean nebulizer! It kind of sounds like Darth Vader! haha

He looks ecstatic, don't you think? Well, time for another treatment, gotta run!

You Thought it Would Never Happen!

Why do you guys doubt me?! Of course I would come through! And now, drum roll please:

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr dum dum da dummmmm:

Here are the pictures you've all been waiting for!

First up, just an adorable picture of Sam. Don't you just want to eat him!?!

Now on to New Year's Eve, we have here Uncle Jim.

We celebrated with a rousing game of Apples to Apples junior.

And we played Wii too!

Cute pic of Leanne and Chelsea.

It was a great night, we had tons of fun and sang happy birthday to Kay at midnight (her b-day is on New Year's day).

And this picture doesn't really show it at all, but here's Sam's first fat lip. What a man!

See that little red dot over his upper lip? Thats where he hit the corner of the dishwasher.

So thats about it! Aren't you glad you were patient?! :)

A Bunch of Stuff

There's no school today! When there isn't any school, I don't usually have to work because no school = no preschool. But I was scheduled anyway. So this morning, well let me go back--last night Sam kept everyone awake ALL NIGHT, he's congested and has a cough--so this morning, I called in to work and they didn't need me there, so yay! What's bad is we still haven't showered and have just been taking it easy, trying to get Sam back to sleep. :( It's making for a pretty uneventful day though.

In other news, I'm started to get Bethany's party put together! Here's what I'm doing for her present:

Check out the stuff there, so cute! She's going to love it so much!

Okay good news: I've showered! My internet froze up and kicked me off, so now I'm back to finish things up.

We're still working on Maddie potty training, she's had one accident today. Yes, I got after her. My sister was on the phone with me and told me that was bad. Sorry Kristie. And Maddie.

Other than that, I don't have much else to share. I showered but my hair's not done? I need to go clean up lunch and David's at work all day today! I'm way excited to go see my sister in February, and I get to paint murals on her daughter's wall--so stoked about that! Yup, thats it!

All I got.

Everything.

No, I still haven't gotten those pictures.

Lots O Stuff

So, my parents are in Italy right now! Isn't that amazing?! I'm gonna be honest, I'm insanely jealous about it. Italy is one of my dream vacations! David asked me the other day if we could go to Mexico or Hawaii what would I choose? I said Italy. But I hope they have an amazing time--truly!

Bethany got her report card today, and guess what?! She's a genious!!
Well, maybe not a genious but she's improving and that gets a thumbs up in my book! The only thing she really needs to work on is her writing. So we'll work on it!
Bethany's birthday is in just a couple weeks and we're planning an actual honest-to-goodness party! The poor kid hasn't had a "real" party with friends and party bags and whatever since she was BORN. So we're having a "real" party, pray for me. :)

And I've been published!!

Okay, yeah right. I have NOT been published in this* book, although I did send in a story to be in the book. But it wasn't picked. But I still want to buy it because I know it will be HILLARIOUS! Because if they didn't pick my awesome hysterical story, then the stories in there must be wet-your-pants good! If you have no idea what I'm talking about go here. Go buy it too, we can be book buddies!

And thats it for now...

NO I HAVEN'T DOWNLOADED THE PICTURES YET, LAY OFF! :)

*I HAVE been published in a photography book, or so they tell me. I wouldn't pay the $80 to actually own it myself. I'm also pretty sure they tell everyone who submits a photo that they're in the book. So there.

Promises, promises...

I know I said I was going to post pictures from New Year's, but I still haven't gotten them onto the laptop. Sorry. I hate that stupid laptop, and I think it knows it and hates me back. Jerk.

Poor Sam today got a fat lip! He loves our dishwasher and whenever I load/unload dishes he's right there helping out (see that video a couple back, thats what I'm talking about). Anyway, he also thinks he can walk and sometimes lands awkwardly, this time mouth right into the corner of the dishwasher door. OW! He was bleeding and has a little fat lip, I took a picture but good luck ever seeing it.

I'll try, really I will! Maybe tomorrow, but tonight I'm tired and I'm going to bed now! See ya!

Pay me!

Not much has been going on here lately, we're pretty boring right now and I HATE that! :)

We just started a free trial of Netflix, and the first two movies we've gotten, I picked and David has now banned me from picking anymore. Apparently I pick stupid, girly movies.

My work schedule changed, so on Tuesdays and Thursdays I either work in the evening or not at all. Whoooooo.

Getting back to school has been hard for Bethany. All of a sudden she has to WAKE UP! But she doesn't want to wake up. (I hear all of this from my warm cozy bed as David struggles with getting her ready--and by struggles I mean he just yells at her to get up.)

We've been trying to potty train Maddie. I think she's doing so well and then she poops in her pull-up. THANK GOODNESS for pull-ups! If I had to clean poop up I think I'd loose my sanity completely. (I HATE POTTY TRAINING!)

Sam's doing good, you just got an update on him! Sheesh, read the last post.

David's day off was Thursday all last year, and it just got moved to Friday!! Halle-freakin-lujah! Now the weekends won't have to be completely sucky. I hate Friday's and Saturday's where I can't go bug my friends since their husbands are there to spend time with and I don't want to intrude. Now I atleast don't have to worry about that on Friday's, Saturday's are still a bust. :)

I've been super lazy this week and I hate it! I keep making these goals and lists to get things done and then I just don't. Why is that?! What if someone PAID me to clean my house....that would be so AWESOME! I bet I still wouldn't do it--YES I would.....no I wouldn't....YES.........no...

Sam the Man!

I keep meaning to get the pictures from New Year's off my camera, but I haven't. I keep meaning to clean my house, but I haven't. I keep meaning to shower, but....
Just kidding! Really this is just to say I have pictures from New Year's Eve but you'll have to wait a little longer to see them. So instead, I have a post about Sam! I feel like I don't talk about Sam enough, and I wouldn't want you to think I neglect him or anything--because I don't! :)
Sam's been so funny lately, he'll be 8 months in just a week or so, and all of a sudden he's got opinions! He wants this, he wants that, he throws fits when he doesn't get what he wants NOW! He is also very...hmmmm...athletic! Yes, athletic! The boy's been crawling for awhile now, and now he can stand up all by himself without holding on to anything! He also is doing the walking along furniture thing, by nine months I promise you he'll be walking by himself! He also can say "Da da" but of course he doesn't say "ma ma", only "phlllbbbbbbbbb". I'll end this little update with a story and a video: last night I was in a very silly mood, and I was cleaning the house to loud music. The kids and I were dancing all around the house, and like I said I was being silly, dancing crazy and jumping around--mostly because Sam loved it, but also because I was just being silly! :) So after a minute of me dancing around Sam, he started rocking back and forth to the beat, it was so cute! I promise you he's never done that before, so I know it was real dancing! ;) And here's a video of it for proof:

(sorry about my loud annoying voice, but he is so cute don't you think?)
